My recipe for spinach dip calls for 1/2 c sour cream and 1/2 mayonnaise...do I measure those in a liquid or solid measuring cup?
Thank you :)Should sour cream be measured in a solid or liquid measuring cup?
A 1 cup dry measure and a 1 cup liquid measure both measure the same volume: 8 fl. oz. Using a dry measure tends to be more accurate because it can be leveled.Should sour cream be measured in a solid or liquid measuring cup?
Liquid. But there isn't a huge difference... either would work in a pinch. It's most crucial to use measuring cups for dry measure because we can measure exactly by skimming a knife across the top. But for that you could use the wet measure, but dry would work fine. And the measurements for something like a spinach dip aren't that crucial. You hardly even need to measure... guessing would even be sufficient for something like that.
It doesn't really matter which one you use. Both measure the same amount. I have found that it is a bit easier to use the solid cup measure.
Liquid
i measure sour cream both ways, the lip on a wet measure helps contain it when u are doing the full measure amount.
solid a.k.a. dry measuring cup
