Is soft serve Ice cream a Solid or a Liquid?

A solid has a fixed shape and a fixed volume.


A liquid spreads out even through its container.


Soft serve ice cream spreads SOME, but not evenly.


So what is it?Is soft serve Ice cream a Solid or a Liquid?

It's kinda a difficult question to answer. It's actually a combination of two different states of matter. You have solid ice crystals suspended between liquid. It's because of the way ice cream machines work. They freeze portions of the ice cream at a time and simultaniously mix it in with the liquid portion, so it reaches an almost uniform temperature without freezing completely. That's why it changes states so quickly. Melting or if you put soft serve ice cream into a freezer, the liquid will quickly freeze and you'll get regular ice cream, which is solid until it melts of course.








Soft serve is essentially just a term for fresh from the machine ice cream.











Also, the guy who said plasma is incorrect. Plasma is a state that is hotter then gas (its what the sun's made of). So obviously not ice cream.Is soft serve Ice cream a Solid or a Liquid?
hmmm...Well I've seen the guys working at buffets refill the soft serve machines with these big packs full of liquid.


So, it goes from liquid, to somewhat solid, to liquid again because it melts.

If you can make a shape and it stands like that, it's solid. If you make a ball of soft serve ice cream it doesn't lose the shape, so it must be a solid.
If you can drink it, it's a liquid ..... if you eat it, it's a solid .......although, ANY frozen solid will become liquid if left out to melt......
it is a liquid that has somewhat reached its freezing point. At normal room temperature, it is a liquid.
It is a semi solid and has some properties of both liquid and solid.
There are soild luquid and gas that people know about but there is another called Plasma it is soild/liquid
It starts out as a liquid then turns into a solid.
It starts out as a solid then slowly turns into a liquid
